So Television has appointed Darren Smith and Mary Doyle to the new roles of Creative Director and Head of Development respectively.  Both roles will report to Managing Director Graham Stuart.

Smith joins from Endemol Shine label, Initial, where as Head of Entertainment he focused on formats leading the new MTV reality show The Royal World to commission. Prior to that he was Twofour’s Head of Comedy Entertainment, having previously spent four years as a commissioning editor for entertainment and comedy for Channel 4 and responsible for launching shows including 10 O’Clock Live and Friday Night Dinner.

Doyle has worked in development and production for over 10 years for a range of companies, including the BBC, STV, Shine and Hungry Bear Media.

Commenting on the appointments, Graham Stuart said, “We are delighted to welcome two executives with such outstanding reputations to the company. They are both brilliant ideas people and fully committed to building the next chapter of the So story.”

Smith added, "I’m thrilled to be joining the funny and talented people behind so many iconic TV moments and I’m looking forward to helping them create many more."
