German non-scripted indie, Tresor, has signed an exclusive first-look deal with Richard Bacon’s Yes Yes Media for non-scripted TV formats in Germany.
This agreement will give Keshet International-owned Tresor an exclusive window on all new non-scripted formats developed by the Sister and Satisfaction Group-backed TV and tech entertainment production company.
The two companies have already started collaborating as part of the newly established creative partnership between Satisfaction Group and Keshet International (Kl) announced in January this year, which brought together creatives from both format powerhouses in Paris in June as part of the inaugural International Creative Alliance Days hosted by Satisfaction Group.
Tresor’s MD Axel Kuehn says, “From what I saw in Paris, Yes Yes Media are really looking to innovate and break new ground with their formats. As a company, I feel they’re completely aligned with us and what we do in Germany, where Tresor is always at the forefront of TV trends. I’m really excited at the prospect of working with Richard and his team to develop some of their formats for our broadcast partners here in Germany.”
Yes Yes Media’s Richard Bacon comments, “At Yes Yes we like to push the boundaries of what’s possible in entertainment, developing big original entertainment formats – and formats that integrate our innovative proprietary technology, to create emotionally engaging, culturally relevant productions. We also believe it is through collaboration that groundbreaking ideas are born. This new, creative partnership with Keshet International’s Tresor is about more than just content distribution; it’s about collaborating and innovating with our brilliant new partners to develop formats that have a lasting impact on the global stage”
For Tresor, this new first-look deal with Yes Yes Media follows two previously successful first-look partnerships. With MGM Television’s Global Formats division, Tresor developed and produced MGM’s Generation Gap for North Rhine-Westphalia’s free-to-air TV network WDR as Das ist meine Zeit – Die Generationenshow (This is My Time – The Generation Show) and MGM’s Skate Fever for RTLZWEI as Skate Fever – Stars auf Rollschuhen. While with CJ ENM, Tresor adapted CJ ENM’s award-winning 300: War of United Voices for Sat1 as United Voices – Das größte Fanduell der Welt; and three successful seasons of CJ ENM’s hit music mystery show I Can See Your Voice for RTL.
Yes Yes Media recently secured a 6×60’ commission from UKTV’s U&Dave for a new comedy competition format created by Bacon entitled Silence is Golden. At the start of each episode, the studio audience receives a cash prize pot and all they need to do to keep it…is remain silent. With every audience member mic’ed up, a green room of 30 comedy acts wage war on them, while every snigger, giggle or guffaw generated brings the total prize money down. If the entertainers get the prize pot to zero, they get to give money to charity.
Tresor produces content for the German-speaking market, specialising in adapting international entertainment formats such as The Real Housewives of Munich (RTL+), three seasons of I Can See Your Voice (RTL), and KI’s Masters of Dance (ProSieben). Part of Kl’s global network of production hubs, Tresor has also recently produced three seasons of Über Geld spricht man doch (People Talk About Money) – the German adaptation of LineUp Industries’ Where Does All the Money Go? – for Kabel 1 (S1 and S2) and Sat1 (S3), as well as Paramount’s The Line-Up as Wer isses? for ProSieben.
