RAW has appointed Studio Lambert exec producer Sara Murray to the newly created role of Head of Scripted TV.
Murray will be tasked with growing RAW’s TV scripted division, as the company builds on recent scripted productions like feature films American Animals and Three Identical Strangers.
She joins RAW from Studio Lambert (both All3Media companies) where she was an Executive Producer on the 10-part Amazon/Virgin Media series The Feed by Channing Powell (The Walking Dead), as well as developing a slate of high-end returning series for both terrestrial and international broadcasters, including Girl on a Wire by Thomas Martin (Tin Star).
Murray’s previous roles include Script Editor on Andrew Davies’ Dr Zhivago (ITV), developing Tony Marchant’s Whistleblowers (ITV), TV development producer on the award winning series, Top Boy (Cowboy Films/C4) by Ronan Bennett and Script Editor on EastEnders. She also worked at Channel 4 as Development Editor working across series including Misfits by Howard Overman, The Devil’s Whore by Peter Flannery, and Red Riding by Tony Grisoni.
RAW’s Founder Dimitri Doganis said: “Sara has a fantastic track record of spotting and successfully developing compelling stories, and she has great relationships with some of the best new and established writers around. With a growing and really exciting slate of TV projects for the UK and international networks and SVOD platforms – and a growing slate of feature films heading into production – it’s a great moment for Sara to join the team.”
Sara Murray said: “RAW has a reputation for brilliantly distinctive and compelling storytelling across its factual programming, film output and scripted TV and I am incredibly excited to be joining such a talented team to help build the business further.”
RAW’s narrative feature film, American Animals, directed by Bart Layton premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2018 in US Dramatic Competition, alongside Tim Wardle’s documentary feature Three Identical Strangers, which won the Jury Prize for Storytelling in US Documentary Competition. Three Identical Strangers has grossed $15m at the US box office and won 10 further awards and American Animals a further five awards.
Production has recently finished on feature film Dream Horse, starring Toni Collette and Damien Lewis. RAW currently has two more films scheduled for production and nine in funded development, including the narrative adaptation of Three Identical Strangers by Bohemian Rhapsody screenwriter Anthony McCarten, Bart Layton’s next film Ravens by award winning writer Peter Straughan, and BAFTA winning director Michael Pearce’s second film Invasion written by Joe Barton.
RAW’s TV scripted development slate features a mix of projects with established and upcoming writers including Clio Barnard, Lucy Kirkwood, Tom Edge and Juliette Towhidi, alongside Bart Layton’s first scripted TV commission.
RAW is also currently in production with multiple series for Netflix, CNN and Discovery.
