Prime Video has announced Lineker (working title), a four-part docuseries telling the story of the footballer-turned-broadcaster’s 50-year career.
The show is produced by Orchard Studios and filming is underway on the series.
Lineker will tell the definitive story of Gary Lineker’s life and career with nostalgic archive and unseen personal material, from his childhood in Leicester to emerging as a footballing superstar, before becoming a renowned broadcaster, entrepreneur, podcaster and more. At the heart of the series will be candid insights and reflections from Lineker himself as he shares his own journey for the first time in unfiltered, honest interviews which delve into the truth behind the headlines. Family members, fellow footballers, friends and critics alike will also offer commentary on Lineker’s past and present, in a series of intimate interviews.
Lineker is produced by Orchard Studios, and Executive Produced by Nat Lippiett and Dan Grabiner. “Everyone has their own Gary Lineker”, Lippiett said. “The World Cup hero, the Match of the Day presenter, the activist or even the face of crisps – for decades he has been at the centre of the national conversation.” Grabiner added: “This series goes beyond the headlines to reveal the many sides of one of Britain’s most recognisable and divisive figures, with candid insight from Gary himself and those closest to both his triumphs and controversies.”
