Non-scripted indie, Phoenix Television, has won its first daytime commission from ITV.

Katie Piper’s Weekend Escape (22 x 60 mins) was ordered by Leanne Clarke, assistant commissioner, Daytime & Entertainment ITV. It will be executive produced by Phoenix Television co-founders Jaimi West and Miles Jarvis.

The show will be shot at an exclusive retreat located in the British Countryside. Each week, Katie and a celebrity guest will be introduced to new pamper treatments and activities focused on health and wellbeing. Meanwhile, a nutritionist and health-food expert will be on hand to introduce Katie and her guest to a range of drinks and foods throughout each show.

The show will also feature human-interest stories. A segment entitled ‘Katie’s Haircut Hero’ will throw the spotlight on someone who has braved adversity or done something extraordinary for an individual or community. The ‘hero’ will be rewarded with a session with celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas who has previously appeared on The One Show, This Morning and Good Morning Britain

Katie Piper said: “Weekend Escape is a fantastic new format that I can’t wait to start filming. It combines so much of what I love, health, wellbeing and chatting to interesting people, exploring everything from nutrition to celebrity interviews all in the heart of the British countryside.”

Leanne Clarke, Assistant Commissioner Daytime & Entertainment said: ”I am thrilled to be working alongside Phoenix Television for the first time and Katie Piper is the perfect host for this feel-good weekend show. I can’t wait to get started and for the audience to immerse themselves into the stunning retreat from the comfort of their living rooms.”

Miles Jarvis, Executive Producer, Phoenix Television said: “It’s an absolute delight to be given this opportunity to deliver a fresh format to ITV. We love and share Katie’s values and admire her courage, kindness and energy. She’s always willing to try new experiences and celebrate the good things — and good people — in life.

“Katie Piper’s Weekend Escape will bottle her inspiring attitude and share it with the world. Katie and her guests will be stepping out of studio and into a space where they can relax and have some fun, while doing something positive for people who’ve gone through difficult times.”

Founders of Phoenix Television Jaimi West and Miles Jarvis have previously worked on long running shows including Cash in The Attic, Car Booty, Missing and Found with Kate Adie with Jarvis starting his career as a runner and then researcher on ITV’s flagship daytime magazine programme This Morning in the 1990s and then rejoining as exec producer in the 2010s     .
