Passion Pictures Group today announces the completion of a corporate demerger, creating two independent businesses: animation and commercials; and unscripted.
The Group’s animation and commercials business will operate as Passion Pictures Animation, while the unscripted television and documentary businesses will trade as Passion.
Passion Pictures Animation will continue its focus on animation, branded content, series, features and original IP development under its existing leadership team.
Passion will continue to develop and produce live action, factual, and unscripted programming for broadcasters and global platforms through its family of labels: Passion Documentaries, Passion Planet and Keo Films
Andrew Ruhemann and Nick Southgate will co-chair the demerged Passion live action business.
A statement from the company says: “After 40 years of building exceptional creative businesses, this next chapter gives both companies the independence to shape their own futures.”
No changes are anticipated to existing client relationships or ongoing productions as a result of the demerger.
The studio’s recent documentary productions include Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story for DC /Warner Bros. Discovery, See No Evil on Channel 4 and Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke on Hulu and Disney+.
Passion Pictures Animation has teams in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Barcelona. It recently announced the co-production of a series based on webtoon Hero Killer and produced the 400 Boys, episode of season 4 of Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots, as well as Not a Box now streaming on Apple TV .
