Screen Craft Guild Cymru has announced the nominees for the inaugural Ember Awards that recognise excellence in Production Design, Costume Design and Hair & Make-up Design across film, television drama and short form work connected to Wales.

The inaugural Ember Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 27 September 2026 at Hilton Cardiff, where the winners will be revealed.

Rakie Ayola (The Pact) will host the inaugural Ember Awards.

Screen Craft Guild Cymru Chair Hayley Nebauer said: “The Nominees Announcement Party was a wonderful moment for the Guild and for the Welsh screen craft community. To see so many designers, artists, makers, crew, partners and supporters come together to celebrate the work of Production Design, Costume and Hair & Make-up was incredibly moving.

Samantha Jay Cliff, Awards Director and Guild committee member, said: “The standard of work across the nominated entries is a real testament to the strength of the screen craft community in Wales. It has been a privilege to help shape the first year of the Ember Awards and to see the care, thought and enthusiasm with which members have engaged in the voting process. These nominations reflect not only outstanding creative work, but the value of having craft recognised by peers and colleagues who understand what goes into making it.”

Catrin Lewis-Defis, Producer and Guild committee member said: “These awards were created to recognise the craft departments whose work shapes what audiences see on screen. The first Ember Awards nominees represent an extraordinary range of talent, imagination, skill and creative ambition, and we are so proud to be celebrating them in Wales.

Ray Holman, Costume designer and Guild committee member said: “We are also absolutely honoured that Rakie Ayola will host the inaugural Ember Awards. Rakie’s connection to Wales, her advocacy for access and representation, and her extraordinary body of work make her a wonderful person to help lead this first celebration of Welsh screen craft.”
