The TF1 group distribution arm Newen Connect has joined with Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium Productions to co-develop and distribute Madame!, a period drama about the life of Marie Tussaud, founder of London’s waxwork museum Madame Tussauds.
Serkis will be showrunner and director.
Imaginarium will produce Madame! along with Felicita Films’ Marie Guillaumond.
The move follows French distributor Newen Connect’s hire of former Mercury and BBC Studios (BBCS) exec Phil Sequeria earlier this month to lead its sales operations across the UK and North America, as it looks to increase its focus on English-language markets.
