New Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has reappointed Michelle Donelan as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Donelan was appointed culture secretary by Liz Truss, when she briefly became prime minister, following Nadine Dorries’ resignation.

Donelan was previously Minister of State for Higher and Further Education and was Secretary of State for Education for just two days in July this year under Boris Johnson’s premiership.

Her career before Parliament was in marketing with stints at Marie Claire magazine and World Wrestling Entertainment.

Donelan has previously called for the “unfair” BBC licence fee to be scrapped and all eyes will be on her to see whether she will continue with plans to privatise Channel 4.
