BBC Director of Unscripted, Kate Phillips, has been named as interim Chief Content Officer following news that Charlotte Moore is to leave the role to move to a new job at Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television.

Phillips interim appointment was confirmed by Director General Tim Davie in a message to staff. She takes up the post straight away.

BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore was announced yesterday as the new CEO of Left Bank Pictures as well as EVP, Creative Director across SPT’s International Production Group. That move came after Left Bank Pictures founder and CEO Andy Harries announced he was leaving his role to become the first Executive Chair of the indie. EVP, Creative Director, SPT International Production is a newly created role which will see Moore lead the group’s creative strategy.

Kate Phillips was appointed BBC Director of Unscripted in May 2022. She is responsible for the overall commissioning strategy for the full range of unscripted content, including Entertainment, Documentaries, Specialist Factual, Arts & Classical Music, Factual Entertainment & Events and Daytime & Early-Peak.

During the pandemic Phillips was Acting Controller of BBC One and was previously Controller, Entertainment and before that was Creative Director of Formats for BBC Worldwide. She has also previously worked as Channel Executive for BBC One and BBC Three.
