UK-based John Gore Studios has announced that it will be joining forces with its U.S.-based sister company The John Gore Organization, under the common control of a single holding company.
CEO Hilary Strong is to step down from her role.
The tie up between the UK and US arms of the business “will facilitate coordination between the companies and will bring their respective film, television and theatrical businesses under a common strategic vision that will enable them to reach an even broader audience on screens and stages worldwide.”
Each of the companies will be under the executive leadership of owner-founder John Gore. At John Gore Studios, he will be “building on the foundation laid by John Gore Studios CEO Hilary Strong and the exceptional team they created in establishing one of the most exciting new players in filmed entertainment in recent years.”
John Gore said: “Hilary and the team took the business from zero to seven feature films in 18 months, which must be a record—all the while burnishing the legacy of Hammer Films and expanding into new technologies and complementary businesses to pave a path for the future. I am extremely grateful to Hilary for the significant role she has played in the launch of John Gore Studios and excited about this next chapter.”
Having established the business with Gore, Hilary Strong, who also served as an Executive Producer on each of the first six feature films developed during her tenure, will be handing over the reins, as part of the reshaping of the global businesses.
Hilary Strong said: “I have adored my time working with John and the wonderful team we have put together to create John Gore Studios, and I will always be grateful to John for the opportunity, but we have both agreed that, with the reshaping of the global business, my work here is done. I wish the team every success for the future.”
John Gore Studios’ slate includes My Duchess (directed by Mike Newell, starring Joan Collins and Isabella Rossellini), Ithaqua (directed by Casey Walker, starring Luke Hemsworth), The Queen of Fashion (written and directed by Alex Marx, starring Andrea Riseborough), Frank and Percy (directed by Sean Mathias, starring Ian McKellen and Roger Allam), Onwards and Sideways (directed by John Madden, starring Rhys Ifans and Laura Linney), and The Return of Stanley Atwell (written and directed by Brian Welsh, starring Nicholas Galitzine and Ella Purnell).
John Gore Studios brings together a portfolio of companies spanning production, restoration, IP catalogues, technology, costumiers, sales and distribution, including Angels Costumes, Deep Fusion, Hammer Films, Hilltop Screen, Icon Film Distribution, Kaleidoscope Film Distribution, Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment, Silver Salt Restoration and Tyburn Films.
