Caroline Short has been appointed Interim Managing Director of ITN Productions.

Short, who was recently promoted to lead ITN Productions’ global slate and heads up the company’s Leeds base, will take on responsibility for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the Productions business.

She will oversee editorial strategy and the delivery of ITN Productions’ growth plans across broadcast, digital and direct-to-consumer platforms, including the company’s growing creator-led content strategy.

The role is for an initial six-month period, following Ian Rumsey taking up the role of Chief Executive of ITN. Short will lead ITN Productions on an interim basis, with a process to appoint a permanent Managing Director taking place later this year as part of the company’s longer-term plans.

Reporting directly to Ian Rumsey, she will also join ITN’s Senior Leadership Team.

Since joining ITN in 2020, she has overseen a wide range of high-profile productions across factual and premium documentary, with a particular focus on access-led storytelling and delivering content at scale.

Recent successes include The Investigation of Lucy Letby for Netflix, the returning hit Dover 24/7: Britain’s Busiest Port for Channel 4 and Richard Madeley: Inside the World’s Mega Prison for 5, while the digital team has recently overseen the launch of three new archive-led YouTube channels.

Based in Leeds, Short has helped establish ITN Productions’ regional hub.
