TV industry executive Rod Henwood is joining the board of Tin Roof Media as Non-Executive Chair of the non-scripted production group which houses Blink Films and Outline Productions.

As Non-Executive Chair, he will chair the Board of the group, working alongside the majority shareholders (private equity firm Rockpool) and the executive team including recently appointed Tin Roof Director of Operations Ulla Streib, Finance Director Matt Fleming, Blink Films co-Founders Dan Chambers and Justine Kershaw and Outline co-Founders Laura Mansfield and Helen Veale to grow Tin Roof’s international footprint through sustaining and building on both indies’ current growth.

This includes developing further commissions from digital platforms and broadcasters, especially in the US, increasing international co-productions and distribution activity for both formats and finished programming, and exploiting the synergies between the two companies.

Blink has recently announced the commission of a six-part series Meet the Chimp (w/t) by Disney+, as well as Unforgotten (w/t) a three-part prime-time format for BBC2.

In his executive role, Henwood currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer and board director of The Ink Factory, the London- and LA-based independent studio behind The Little Drummer Girl, Fighting with My Family, and The Night Manager.

Over a 30-year career, he has held CEO and other leadership roles with European and US TV companies, including Zodiak Media, Channel 4, ITV and Fox Kids. He has also been responsible for launching 4oD/All4 while at Channel 4 and was  launch CEO of Pottermore, JK Rowling’s online world of Harry Potter.

Rod Henwood said: “Blink and Outline have two of the most creative teams in TV. They’ve been quietly and successfully growing their businesses by delivering high quality, returnable formats and series to broadcasters in the UK and internationally. The growing number of new digital platforms alongside renewed demand from traditional broadcasters for the content Blink and Outline specialise in producing provides a huge opportunity for both companies to increase their output and their US, UK and international clients. I’m looking forward to helping Dan, Justine, Laura, Helen and Ulla on a growth strategy for Tin Roof which will take the Group to the next stage of its existence.”
