Ex TSI boss Nick Doff along with Alan Mercer and Helena Brewer has used IBC to announce the formation of new channel launch consultancy, Optima, with three channel launches already in the pipeline.

Nick Doff also runs The EPG Shop which brokers channel positions on Sky and is Optima’s commercial head. He ran facilities house TSI until 2000 and has managed multiple channel launches.

Alan Mercer is founder of GBF Media, and specialises in the development and deployment of national and international broadcast media distribution strategies.

Helena Brewer is the founder of Redberry Media, specialising in providing new and existing channels with broadcast licensing and compliance advice and has also worked at Ofcom.

Helena Brewer is currently analysing the consequences of Brexit which she says could see a flood of multinational broadcasters leaving the UK. "Netflix and Liberty Global are already basing their headquarters in Amsterdam. Our clients – be they established multinational broadcasters, or broadcasters entering the UK market for the first time, need sound advice regarding their operational base, to ensure compliant services going forward. Jurisdiction has become an issue concerning all business owners: we don’t have all of the answers, but we know the questions to ask and have sensible solutions that we plan to unveil in due course." she said.

"The chessboard has been jolted badly since Brexit," said Nick Doff: "and everyone is trying to second-guess the next move.”
