Hearst Networks EMEA has commissioned a 2×60’ documentary on Crime+Investigation from Future Studios, exploring the complexity of the Nullo community, called The Eunuch Maker.

Hosted by Marcel Theroux, the show explores the story of Marius ‘Theo’ Gustavson, known as the Eunuch Maker; reported to be running a business from his home in Finsbury Park by operating and live streaming sexual organ removal surgeries online in front of audiences in their thousands.

Before it hit headlines in 2022, and nine individuals were charged in March 2023, not much was known about the Nullo community.

Marcel Theroux takes the audience on a journey to explore why people were motivated to join the community, and speaks to the victims as well as the consenting individuals, together with experts from around the world to give their own insight into this investigation.

Dan Korn, VP of Programming at Hearst Networks EMEA, said: ‘’We have been working closely with the great team at Future and with Marcel to bring to life this uniquely challenging and demanding criminal investigation and subject matter.’’

John Farrar, Executive Producer said: “This is one of the most complex and extraordinary stories we’ve ever undertaken. Born out of two years of sensitive and meticulous research, Marcel’s immersive journey promises to deliver the shocking reality behind the tabloid headlines, whilst offering a forensic insight into the motivations of The Eunuch Maker.”

Marcel Theroux commented: “This is a jaw-dropping story that raises timely questions about body modification, the limits of consent, and gender identity. It starts with a crime that beggars belief, then takes the viewer into the hidden world of voluntary eunuchs, one of the oldest and most marginalised minorities in human history.”

For Future Studios, the documentary is executive produced by John Farrar, and Series director Sam Miller. The series will be distributed by Blue Ant.

The show will premiere on Crime+Investigation early 2025 and will later air in the Benelux region.
