Production music platform, FreshTracks, is launching a new Video Search feature allowing users to upload video clips and then receive a selection of music tracks that fit the scene.

FreshTracks is billing the function as the “first feature of its kind in the production music industry.”

Video Search is the latest addition to FreshTracks’ suite of AI-powered music search tools — joining Smart Search, which uses natural language to find music, and Similarity Search, which finds tracks based on audio.

Video Search allows users to upload a clip and instantly receive a curated selection of music tracks that fit the scene without entering a keyword into the search bar.

Video Search is built with privacy in mind, processing only short snippets (never full uploads), which are immediately deleted after use.

“We hear so often from clients on how deadlines are getting shorter, and in the current climate, resources and staff are reducing. They need to search through ever-growing music catalogues but need to do it quickly with accuracy and creativity,” said Phil Stubbs, Director, Business Development at FreshTracks Music. “Our new Video Search tool takes your actual footage, without compromising privacy, and finds music that matches its emotional and visual rhythm, giving you creative suggestions you may not have thought to search for. It’s like having a music consultant built into the platform.”

The feature is available now to all registered users on the FreshTracks platform. FreshTracks’ clients include BBC, ITV, UKTV, Global, Channel 4 and more.
