The contents of Fountain Studios will be put up for auction early next year after the studios officially closed following the recent hosting of the 2016 X Factor.

Sound and vision equipment, lighting, scenery and memorabilia are all being offered in an online sale between 30 January to 7 February. The sale is being organised by auctioneers Charterfields and a viewing day is being held on 1 February.

Among the broadcast equipment for sale are Sony HDC cameras, pedestals along with various control units and pan and tilt heads; vision mixers; sound desks and microphones; lighting desks and a large number of hoists and pantographs. There is also a selection of scenery and drapes, dressing room furniture, a wind machine, a smoke machine.

The Fountain site has been a TV and film studio since 1927 and was formerly the base for Associated Rediffusion and LWT. Fountain took over the lease in 1993 before revamping the complex. Fountain’s parent company Avesco sold it to a property developer at the beginning of this year. It will now be turned into residential property.
