ViacomCBS Networks UK has appointed Cicelia Deane as Editorial and Commissioning Executive for BET UK.

Responsible for developing, sourcing and leading all aspects of original content for BET in the UK, Deane will report into Craig Orr, VP Commissioning, ViacomCBS Networks International and Collins Harris, Senior Director, Production and Development, BET International.

Deane will be the editorial lead for the BET brand in the UK, overseeing all BET campaigns and content. Working closely with the BET International team, Deane will collaborate with on-and off-screen talent to bring locally produced content to British audiences, grow the BET UK brand, and establish third-party partnerships and content opportunities. Implementing ViacomCBS’ current diversity, equity and inclusion policies, including ‘no diversity, no commission,’ will also be in Deane’s remit.

An RTS and BAFTA-nominated series producer, series editor and production consultant, Deane joins ViacomCBS with 20-years-experience making factual, entertainment, reality and observational documentary programming for peak and daytime television and online channels in the UK. Her previous credits include BBC3’s The Rap Game (S1-3), MTV’s Yo! MTV Raps (S2), BBC 1’s Sort Out Your Life in 7 Days, and Channel 4’s Grand Designs.

“Cicelia is a highly regarded and talented television executive with a wealth of expertise in producing sought after content for local and global audiences,” said Craig Orr, VP, Original Content, ViacomCBS Networks International. “We are incredibly lucky to have her join the team, driving forward and leading our growing slate of premium entertainment celebrating Black British culture for BET UK.”

“This is an exciting new chapter for the BET UK brand, and I look forward to cultivating a strong content pipeline that elevates Black British voices and the authentic Black British experience,” said Deane.
