This week’s MPTS will press the button on major industry topics with A-list guest speakers, essential State of the Nation debates and an array of expertly curated attractions. The show is bigger than ever, with an enlarged gallery level to accommodate the growing interest in AI.
The UK’s TV industry has never been more vibrant, nor is its outlook more uncertain, so there’s never been a more urgent time to head to MPTS next week.
Around 12,000 people from across the broadcast, production, post-production and content creator industries are expected to attend the UK’s leading event for creative professionals on 14-15 May at London Olympia.
The diverse, high-calibre lineup of talent and thought leaders will address the most pressing challenges and exciting opportunities facing the industry in a free seminar programme and across the show floor.
Mission Possible: Keynotes lead the way
Acclaimed actor and award-winning documentary maker Ross Kemp gives an exclusive insight into his extraordinary career, encompassing the challenges of filming in high-risk environments and the responsibility of storytelling in shedding light on global issues.
Just ahead of the release of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the film’s British editor and a regular collaborator on Tom Cruise films, Eddie Hamilton, shares a special presentation on how he cuts high-octane thrillers and works with the best talent in the business.
With producers and broadcasters scrambling to find the secret that turns social media content into gold, FlightStory Studio has already got there. Georgie Holt, the Co-Founder and CEO of the ‘small screen specialists’ gives an exclusive fireside chat explaining how media and entertainment can be redefined by brand-led storytelling and digital-native narratives.
They join dozens of well-known industry figures, including NFL star and presenter Jason Bell, on the MPTS stage. Further keynotes take us Behind the Sparkle of making Strictly Come Dancing week by week with director Nikki Parsons, hair designer Lisa Davey and costume designer Vicky Gill.
Behind the EastEnders Live Show
It won’t have escaped your notice that this year marked the 40th anniversary of EastEnders, which celebrated the occasion with another edge-of-the-seat live episode. You can join the creative minds behind this groundbreaking edition and learn how they orchestrated a live fan vote to determine the outcome of which romantic partner Denise Fox (played by Diane Parish) chose to be with, and what Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) named her baby. Actors Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) and Aaron Thiara (Ravi Gulati) give us the inside track on what it was like on the day.
State of the Nation reports
The conference programme revolves around specially curated seminars for specific industry sectors. Four leading indie TV executives will assess the state of play, no doubt touching on the impact of tariffs and the advertising downturn in the main Production keynote. A Future of Audio State of the Nation examines advances in immersive sound formats and the role of AI in sound design. The Post Production seminars are headlined by a panel asking where the industry is heading in an era of unprecedented uncertainty and technological ingenuity. With so much turmoil in VFX, MPTS brings a timely State of the Nation questioning whether expanded UK tax breaks can alter the dial. Broadcast Technology sessions kick off with a keynote dissecting the latest advances in transmission methods, the integration of AI in content creation and the impact of cloud technology.
AI Media Zone and Expanded Gallery Level
In response to exceptional demand for insight into artificial intelligence, MPTS has unveiled an expanded gallery area where visitors will find the new AI Media Zone. This is your base for exploring interactive demonstrations and expert-led discussions around AI-driven workflows, automation, ethical AI use and the future of content creation. A State of the Nation address led by the BBC and ITN asks how broadcasters are integrating AI to enhance content creation. Look too for an exclusive case study on how the late, legendary British chat show host Michael Parkinson has been brought back in the podcast Virtually Parkinson, thanks to the power of AI.
The expanded gallery level is also where visitors will find the Blackmagic Design Seminar Theatre, an additional café and networking area, and the brand new expert-led AI Training series organised in partnership with Future Media Concepts (FMC).
Event director Charlotte Wheeler said: “In the wake of potential tariffs, creeping AI, debates about the future of Public Service Broadcast and continued financial downturn, MPTS is the place to help the industry make sense of it all. We have a packed programme of seminars, keynotes, networking and activities which have never felt more urgent or relevant. Our expanded gallery level is a testament to the show’s commitment to innovation, education, and industry growth. With all these exciting new additions, MPTS 2025 promises to be an unmissable experience for anyone looking to stay ahead in the fluctuating but always exciting media landscape. We can’t wait to welcome you all to MPTS 2025.”
