Factual production company Collective Media Group is to produce the latest series of Smithsonian Channel’s hit series Air Warriors.
Collective Media Group was recently launched by former ViacomCBS International senior execs Claire McArdle and Rebecca Knight.
Air Warriors, now in its 10th series, takes the audience behind the scenes to reveal the origin stories of the UK and US military’s most iconic aircraft, examining the unique features that make them so deadly and effective. Through rare, archival footage and compelling testimonies, the series also meets the men and women who fly and maintain these Air Warriors and see how they’ve overcome incredible obstacles to rule the sky.
The 8 x 60 min series returns with a new slate of six military aircraft – two British planes along with four from the USA. The new series “has a new vision to make the technology, the history, the war stories, and the capabilities of these awesome fighter planes and bombers accessible not only to its core audience but also to a wider, and younger, generation of Air Warriors’ fans.”
Air Warriors was previously produced in-house by the Smithsonian Channel.
Rebecca Knight, Co-CEO, Collective Media Group, says: “We are very proud to be making this iconic series for Smithsonian Channel. The Channel’s global reach means it is an ideal partner for Collective, and a perfect fit when it comes to our ambition of growing our high-quality, premium factual slate. We are thrilled to be working with them.”
Bob Strange, Executive Producer, Air Warriors, adds: “Our new series aims to build on the high ratings of the previous, must-watch, Air Warriors shows. The series investigates the engineering science and technology of these iconic aircraft. We are bringing with us a fresh use of green-screen technology which brings the aircrafts to life and complements our deeper dive into the human stories behind the crews of these amazing machines.”
Air Warriors is Executive Produced by Claire McArdle, Rebbeca Knight and Bob Strange for Collective Media Group and Series Produced by Andrew Barron. The series is distributed internationally by Passion Distribution.
