Channel 4’s reality format, Virgin Island, has been recommissioned for a second series “as it continues to smash streaming records amongst 16–34-year-olds.”

The series has shot to the top of the list of Channel 4’s new unscripted series launches for share of 16-34s “since modern records began”, overtaking recent hits such as The Jury: Murder Trial and Late Night Lycett, as well as classic titles such as Supernanny and the original series of Married at First Sight.

In its first 28 days, episode 1 has become Channel 4’s most watched show for 16-34s in 2025 so far, sitting ahead of established formats such as Taskmaster, Married at First Sight Australia and Gogglebox.

The full series has, so far, accumulated almost nine million views on streaming – with final figures for later episodes still to be consolidated.

The series follows 12 adult virgins, as they travel to a luxury Mediterranean retreat to “embark on a unique course in intimacy, to see if it can help them overcome the fears that are holding them back.”

“Some of the world’s leading sexologists” take the twelve virgins on a unique, hands-on programme, to help them take their first steps towards sex and intimacy.

Ian Katz, Chief Content Officer, “Virgin Island is the kind of show only Channel 4 would make, exploring an important but under-discussed social issue with warmth, sensitivity and wit. We’re delighted that it resonated with younger viewers and that the men and women who took part found it such a constructive experience”.

Virgin Island Commissioning Editor, Jonah Weston, said: “It’s been such a thrill to watch this show catch fire. This is a live issue among young people, and from the brave cast to our wonderful experts I don’t think I’ve ever worked on anything quite so bold, warm and well-intentioned. Watch out for season 2 which will be bigger and bolder than ever!”

Executive Producer, Rob Davis from Double Act Productions said, “We’re absolutely delighted with the success of Virgin Island. Its bold and fresh approach clearly struck a chord with the younger generation.”

Virgin Island was commissioned by Jonah Weston, Commissioning Editor, Specialist Factual alongside Shaminder Nahal, Head of Specialist Factual and Genna Gibson, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Reality. Series two is an 8 x 60’ made by Double Act Productions for Channel 4. The Executive Producer for Double Act is Rob Davis. The second series is due to air in 2026.
