Cabin Edit has signed editor Tim Swaby.
Born in Australia and based in the UK, Swaby worked with director Greg Hackett, running production company Spindle. Their first documentary, Experiments in Speed, followed a bicycle builder attempting to cycle 100mph behind an old Ford Zephyr. They were behind the Adidas Hey Jude campaign for Euro 2024.
Swaby has collaborated with other Spindle directors on projects including Molly Burdett’s Have a Word for Mayor of London which challenged inappropriate behaviour and violence against women and girls, asking men to take action if they see sexist harassment by their peers.
Swaby has worked on celebrated films for brands including Adidas, Vodafone, Royal Navy, Nike, Timberland and Philips, and his wider portfolio includes music videos, among them work with Arlo Parks and Loyle Carner, as well as purpose-led projects such as the Paralympic Team Belgium campaign.
With Spindle, he worked across the whole process of production in a Creative Partner capacity, collaborating with directors to develop scripts, storyboards and shot lists. He is now concentrating his time on editing.
Kayt Hall, Managing Director of Cabin Edit, said: “What drew us to Tim is that he genuinely
cares about the work, not just his own but the work of the people around him. That kind of
generosity is as valuable as the talent, and he has both in abundance.”
Tim Swaby said: “I’ve just always wanted to make work that actually makes you feel
something. A laugh, a lump in the throat, sometimes both. That’s what I’m always chasing, and
it’s what Cabin is built around – they back creative opportunities no matter where they come
from and I love that. I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned til now and start this new chapter.”
