Channel 5 has commissioned four-part series The Dog Hospital with Graeme Hall from Avalon, the creators of the hit series Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly.

It will air from Thursday 5th October at 8pm.

The series follows Graeme Hall (best known for training dogs in Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly*) as he embarks on a completely different journey in the canine world – as a dog lover meeting up with worried dog owners and their dogs at Willows Hospital in Solihull.

Series 5 of Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly is Channel 5’s highest factual series so far this year during the 8pm slot and strongest series of the show itself in terms of share, averaging 10.3% for individuals and increasing series on series

The Dog Hospital is set at Willows, as one of Britain’s busiest and most state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals, and Hall gains exclusive access to witness leading-edge procedures, joining highly skilled specialists and seeing heartening recoveries.

The first episode sees Graeme meet 12-week-old Sussex Spaniel Elton, referred to the hospital after a freak accident left him partially paralysed, 10 month old Springer Spaniel Louie, rushed in with life threatening injuries and 10 year old Akasha who needs her sight saving after suddenly going blind.

Tim Quicke, Executive Producer for Avalon said, “We are delighted to be growing a brand-new show with Graeme as he follows some incredible stories and life changing procedures.”

Kit Morey, Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor, Factual said, “Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly has been a huge success for the Channel and we are delighted to draw on the fantastic experience of the team and extend this well-loved brand into an exciting new precinct. Graeme is fully immersed at The Dog Hospital, guiding us through the amazing work done by the team at Willows and giving us a fascinating insider-look at the incredibly detailed surgeries and treatments carried out by the highly skilled specialists, as well as the relatable and very emotional ups and downs of the ever bustling waiting room.“

Graeme Hall added, “I’ve been privileged to follow highly skilled specialists behind the scenes at one of the country’s top veterinary hospitals recently, as they give hope to some very poorly dogs and their worried owners. It’s been an amazing experience and I can’t wait to share it with Channel 5 viewers.”

The Dog Hospital with Graeme Hall has been commissioned by Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor, Factual, Kit Morey. Executive producers are Jamie Isaacs and Tim Quicke.
