Netflix has hired Ollie Madden, the Director of Film4 and Channel 4 drama, as Director of UK Film.

Madden will leave Channel 4 in October to take up his new role where he’ll report to Netflix VP of Content Anne Mensah.

At Film4, Madden oversaw Bafta and Oscar winners including The Favourite, The Father, Poor Things, The Zone of Interest, Beast, Rocks, Poor and Earth Mama. Upcoming projects include those from Russell T Davies, Daisy Haggard, Jack Thorne, Molly Manning-Walker and Roy Williams.

Farhana Bhula, Film4’s Head of Creative and Deputy Director, will take over as interim Director of Film4 from July.

Gwawr Lloyd, Commissioning Editor, Drama, is to become Interim Head of Drama reporting to Ian Katz and will join his HoDs from July.

Madden will continue to oversee the delivery of projects until October, working alongside Bhula and the Film4 team and Lloyd and the Channel 4 Drama team.
