Boffola Pictures, Shane Allen and Kate Daughton’s new production company, has made its first appointment, bringing in the former BBC Development Producer Emily Allen.
Allen’s role in the BBC Commissioning team centred on nurturing the newest voices from across comedy, working with emerging stand ups & writers, but also rising talent from across online & social. Her commissions include PRU for BBC Three, Peck’Eds from Instagram comedian Soph Galustian, and the upcoming BBC Three series, Zen School of Motoring from YouTuber Ogmios. She was also responsible for the inaugural BBC Festival of Funny shorts, which brought 15 short films from emerging comedy filmmakers to BBC iPlayer.
Boffola was launched in May 2021 by Shane Allen and Kate Daughton, former Director & Head of BBC comedy commissioning respectively. The company will specialise in scripted comedy and comedy drama for the UK and international markets.
Boffola recently announced its first commission, a six-part comedy thriller from the BAFTA winning Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli, for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
