Deborah Williams has been appointed Executive Director of Creative Diversity Network (CDN).

Williams was most recently Diversity Manager at the British Film Institute, responsible for pushing forward its diversity agenda across all BFI funding activities. She joined the BFI from Arts Council England (ACE).

Williams replaces Amanda Ariss who announced her departure from CDN in September after 18 months in the role.

CDN launched its diversity monitoring scheme Diamond in August.

John McVay, Chair of the Creative Diversity Network and Chief Executive of Pact said: “Deborah combines a wealth of experience dealing with diversity and inclusion with extensive knowledge of the creative industries through her work at the BFI so she’s a perfect fit for the role.”

Williams added: “I’m really excited to be joining CDN and continuing to build its membership and operations. In particular, I’m looking forward to developing Diamond, which is the most innovative diversity data monitoring system of its kind anywhere in the world.  And, ultimately working with broadcasters, producers and others to ensure that diverse talent on and off screen is supported to succeed across every aspect of the television industry.”

She will be joining CDN in the middle of November.
