BAFTA has unveiled this year’s longlists for the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards.

One Battle After Another tops the list mention, with longlisted entry into 16 categories.

The longlists for all 25 categories including Best Film, Director, Cinematography, Casting, Documentary, Film Not in the English Language and the four performance categories, are published here.

Several key updates have been introduced for 2026 to the EE BAFTA Film Awards, including full voting members deciding the winners of British Short Film and British Short Animation for the first time.

Round Two of voting kicks off today and will determine the nominations; to be unveiled via global livestream on Tuesday 27 January at 12:00 GMT from BAFTA’s HQ 195 Piccadilly in London. Round Three of voting will determine the winners.

BAFTA Film Committee Chair, Emily Stillman, said: “Today’s 82 longlisted films reflect a year of outstanding filmmaking told through bold, complex and original storytelling and exceptional craftsmanshipThe presence of the British film industry across this global list is felt strongly – from our world class talent, locations and infrastructure to scripts rooted in a distinctly British perspective. In a stand-out year for film, our 8,300 BAFTA voting members face a formidable task ahead. We are delighted BAFTA’s Film Awards longlists have become such an important part of awards season, giving the spotlight to a vast range of films, and we hope the public will enjoy watching and discussing them as much as we have.” 

The EE Rising Star Award is the only award voted for by the public. 2026 will mark the 21st anniversary of the EE Rising Star Award.  EE will unveil the nominees on Wednesday, 14 January 2026 and the winner will be announced at the ceremony.

BAFTA represents the UK’s largest film industry voting body comprising 8,300 creative practitioners from all corners of the UK and global film industry. The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will be held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London and broadcast as-live on BBC One and iPlayer and internationally, hosted by writer, producer and TV host, Alan Cumming.
