BAFTA has announced the nominations for the 2025 BAFTA Television Craft Awards and BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises.

Baby Reindeer leads the field with eight nominations and there are six nominations apiece for Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Rivals and Slow Horses. Both Life and Death in Gaza (Storyville) and Say Nothing have four nominations each.

21 out of 44 nominees in the performance categories have received their first BAFTA Television Awards nomination, including Ariyon Bakare (Mr Loverman), Bilal Hasna (Extraordinary), Christopher Chung (Slow Horses), Danny Dyer (Mr Bigstuff), Dylan Thomas Smith (G’Wed), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), Jonathan Pryce (Slow Horses), Kate O’Flynn (Everyone Else Burns), Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing), Lolly Adefope (The Franchise), Marisa Abela (Industry), Mckinley Belcher III (Eric), Nabhaan Rizwan (Kaos), Nava Mau (Baby Reindeer), Nicola Coughlan (Big Mood), Oliver Savell (Changing Ends), Phil Dunning (Smoggie Queens), Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer), Sharon D Clarke (Mr Loverman), Sonny Walker (The Gathering) and Stacey Soloman (Sort Your Life Out)

Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said: “2024 was a standout year for television, testified by the 134 brilliant programmes nominated by BAFTA members. The power of television to drive national conversation, to tap into the stories of public interest, and to inspire societal change, is second to none. And to do this through every genre is even more impressive. The drama of sport, the truth of fiction, the humanity of documentary, the poignancy of comedy, serious entertainment – this year’s nominees reflect every aspect of the human condition. UK television is at the top of its game, and it is a privilege at BAFTA to showcase the work of our incredibly talented nominees at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards and BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises. Tune into BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 11, not only to find out who wins, but to inspire your next watchlist.”

Sara Putt, Chair of BAFTA, said: “From stories that got the nation talking, to courageous documentaries about conflict and real-life events, this year’s television nominations celebrate the exceptional creativity and craft of British and international television, and of the talented people who bring it to life on-and-off screen. It’s fantastic that almost half the performance nominees are receiving their first television nomination, and it’s heartening to see nominees who have been supported by our talent programme Breakthrough. Supporting the next generation of talent is an essential part of BAFTA’s mission. It’s also wonderful to see strong female representation in the Directing category, particularly for talented female directors – who are still significantly outnumbered by their male counterparts when it comes to awards submissions. The Awards are a moment to celebrate our peers and colleagues, to showcase skill and ingenuity in TV, and to give much-deserved praise to the industry’s creatives. Massive congratulations to all the nominees.”

The BAFTA Television Craft Awards will take place on Sunday 27 April and will once again be hosted by Stacey Dooley. The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will be hosted by Alan Cumming and will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 11 May.

The Awards will be available on BritBox in all of its regions: the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the Nordics. It will also be available in Australia on Foxtel and 24 countries across Africa and the Middle East on AlThaqafeya and MBC Channels, as well as 13 countries across Asia on Rewind Networks. Further territories to be confirmed.
