Amazon MGM Studios’ VP & Head of International Originals, Nicole Clemens, has announced that Oliver Jones will join the company as Senior Commissioner for UK Scripted.

Jones, senior commissioner on the Apple TV International team, starts the new role in May and will relocate from LA to London to work with Clemens on the commissioning of new UK scripted series.

Oliver Jones said: “It has been a privilege to work alongside my brilliant colleagues at Apple TV for the past six years, and to collaborate with the remarkable artists I was lucky enough to work with. It’s always a tough decision to leave a job I love, but the time is right to come back home and start a new adventure. Amazon MGM Studios’ commitment and momentum in telling ambitious, provocative, premium stories, together with the scale of their increased investment in the UK, means it couldn’t be a more exciting moment to be joining Nicole and her phenomenal team.”

In an email to the Amazon MGM Studios International Originals team, Clemens said: “With our huge commitment to the UK, I’m delighted to inform you today that Oliver Jones will be joining us as Senior Commissioner for UK Scripted. Oliver is a seasoned scripted executive with a proven track record in developing premium international content. He joins us from Apple, where he most recently served as Senior Creative Executive for International Scripted Television and has played a pivotal role in shaping Apple TV’s international strategy from its early stages, overseeing projects from initial pitch through production, launch, and global rollout. This appointment underscores our continued investment in world-class UK scripted programming as we expand our slate for UK and global audiences. Oliver will work closely with me on the commissioning of new UK scripted series. Our brilliant scripted commissioners, Gemma Brandler and Punit Mattoo will report to Oliver and alongside their teams will continue to develop, produce and deliver impactful UK scripted series for our customers.”

Oliver Jones is the senior commissioner on the Apple TV International team, and has been at Apple for the last 6 years. UK-born and currently LA-based, his remit spans English-language international event series, non-English language originals, co-productions, and acquisitions.

His recent projects include Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and is currently leading creative development across multiple Monsterverse extension series and spin-offs, including an upcoming Cold War-era spy thriller starring Wyatt Russell, scheduled to begin production in summer 2026.

He also oversaw Masters of the Air, from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Earlier projects include Tehran — winner of the 2021 International Emmy for Best Drama — and Alfonso Cuarón’s Disclaimer, starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. Most recently, he has begun production on Berlin Noir, based on Philip Kerr’s Bernie Gunther novels, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Peter Straughan and starring Colin Firth, Jack Lowden & Jessica Gunning.

Additional Apple TV projects under his leadership include Sunny (A24), Losing Alice, The New Look, and Constellation.

Prior to Apple TV, he held senior roles at Fremantle, working on series including The Mosquito Coast, Fellow Travelers, and American Gods. He previously worked at The Weinstein Company, where he oversaw Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, and earlier at Imagine Television, contributing to the success of Empire for FOX.
