Prehistoric Planet, produced for Apple TV+ by the BBC’s NHU and Jon Favreau is to be turned into a 360-degree immersive experience at London’s Lightroom in summer 2025.

Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs at Lightroom will see viewers step inside some of the scenes from seasons one and two of Apple TV+’s Emmy Award-nominated series Prehistoric Planet, and “encounter a vast array of dinosaurs (from Ammonites to Mosasaurs, Adaltheriums to the Tyrannosaurus rex).”

Lightroom’s 360 projections “allow viewers to see these majestic creatures at an awe-inspiring scale and travel alongside them through dangerous deserts, soaring skies and the deep sea.”

‘I always imagined Prehistoric Planet as like stepping into a time machine and travelling back to the time when dinosaurs ruled Planet Earth. The Lightroom experience will be just that! There’s nowhere else where you can be surrounded by the most amazing animals to have ever lived – see them all life-size, and really close-up, watch their dramatic lives unfold and understand what life was like 66 Million years ago. For a wildlife film-maker it’s a dream come true!’ said Mike Gunton, Executive Producer of Prehistoric Planet and BBC History Unit Creative Director

‘We’re thrilled to take our audiences back in time to meet these amazing Dinosaurs, often life-size, in the incredible 360 environment that Lightroom offers. Prehistoric Planet is groundbreaking television, and it’s exciting to work closely with the creative team to create something that sends a shiver down the spine for all ages!’ said Richard Slaney, CEO of Lightroom

Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs will be directed and designed by 59 Studio in collaboration with the makers of Prehistoric Planet, Apple TV+, and Executive Producer and BBC History Unit Creative Director Mike Gunton. The show will also include the original score by multiple Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman and Kara Talve for Bleeding Fingers Music.

Since opening in 2023, Lightroom has featured programming including The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, David Hockney: Bigger & closer not smaller & further away and most recently Vogue: Inventing the Runway.
