All3Media International has signed multiple presales for upcoming Two Brothers Pictures’ thriller Maya, written and created by Daisy Haggard (Boat Story, Back to Life).

Co-led by Daisy Haggard and Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us, Time), Maya is now set to head to North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand following its debut on Channel 4 in the UK.

Following the announcement that entertainment network STARZ has joined Maya as North American co-producer, partners across the globe have acquired the six-part series at pre-sale. In Germany Maya has been licensed by ARD Degeto Film for the public broadcaster ARD, and across the rest of EMEA the six-part thriller has been licensed by Movistar Plus (Spain and Spanish-speaking Andorra), Canal+ (France and French speaking territories) for POLAR+, TV 2 (Norway), TV4 (Sweden),  NPO (Netherlands), Antena TV GROUP (Romania) for its platform antenaplay, as well as Hot (Israel), Yes TV (Israel) and Sýn hf (Iceland).

Further presale deals for Maya have been agreed with Foxtel Group in Australia who have acquired broadcast rights for Foxtel and BINGE and Sky in New Zealand.

Filmed entirely on location in Scotland and produced by Two Brothers Pictures (The Tourist, Fleabag, The Assassin), Maya is written by creator Daisy Haggard, who is making her directorial debut, co-directing the series alongside Jamie Donoughue (Doctor Who, The Last Kingdom).

Forced into witness protection to escape a life-threatening danger, determined and devoted single mum Anna (Haggard) and her headstrong teenage daughter Maya (Ramsey) leave their London lives behind, taking on new identities and relocating to a small rural town in Scotland. As they try to adjust to their new reality, the trauma of their past continues to haunt them in the form of two hitmen intent on tracking them down. As the walls close in, it becomes clear a dangerous figure from their past is still a looming threat. As Anna and Mayanavigate their new world, will the system protect them, or will they have to go to extraordinary lengths to protect themselves?
