Producer Dov Freedman and director Charlie Russell have teamed up to launch new indie Curious Films.

Freedman’s credits include The Trouble with Dad (Channel 4) The Island (Channel4), and An Hour to Save Your Life (BBC). Director Charlie Russell’s previous work includes Chris Packham: Asperger’s and Me, The Trouble with Dad, Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die.

The firm has various projects in development and has just announced its first commission from BBC Three – a documentary series about West Ham United Women’s Football Club called Britain’s Youngest Football Boss (working title).

Filming on and off the pitch across the season, the series will follow the progress of a squad of female players as they debut in the professional Women’s Super League. The series follows the players and the club’s 18-year-old managing director Jack Sullivan, son of West Ham’s Chairman David Sullivan, as he prepares the team for the newly revamped Women’s Super League.

Dov Freedman said: “Charlie and I share a vision to make quality factual television with an unashamedly popular touch. We have a desire to innovate at every turn, and we’re thrilled with how our first major commission is shaping up”

Charlie Russell said: “What makes Dov and I different is our approach to talent and our ability to support, harness and challenge big names for exclusive access, telling heart-warming and intimate stories for the widest possible audience – something that’s reflected in our second commission, to be announced soon.
