Post house Storm HD, set up four years ago by owner operators Paul Ingvarsson and Tim Wheeler, sits within duplication, transation and audio outfit IBF. Broadcast TV, such as ITV’s The Seasons with Alan Titchmarsh, forms the bulk of Storm HD’s work but corporate also makes up a significant proportion of its work. Ingvarsson says the company’s key selling point is its “cutting edge technology and knowledge” which helps deliver client confidence. Storm HD offers audio, grading, vfx, full editing, DVD and film restoration services, as well as video streaming, encoding and subtitling. The plan for the year ahead is to “continue investing in leading edge technology,” adds Ingvarsson.

Shoreditch’s Air Post Production sprang into life three months ago, after the re-brand of what was Breathe post production in Rivington Street and the opening of a new 7,000 sq ft facility on Singer Street, which is now Air Post Production’s head office.

The Singer Street office has 18 editing suites (nine FCP and nine Avid), vfx and grading rooms, and there are 11 audio suites in Rivington Street and at parent company’s Air Studios in Hampstead.

Sales and marketing manager Garry Williams believes Air can go the extra mile to assist its cash-strapped clients: ““We take a much more consultative approach, involving our post producers and technical team from pre-production onwards, ensuring cost savings throughout the post process.”

Unit caused quite a stir when it first opened its doors three years ago as Soho’s original all-Apple, all-HD post house. It’s since expanded to 31 Apple FCP editing rooms, full audio post, 4k grading in two dedicated Color suites and full-service vfx on 15 workstations.

Half of Unit’s clients are in the broadcast sector while the rest are commercials producers, with a small proportion of corporate clients too. Creative highlights of the last year include working on The Viral Factory’s notorious, award winning Diesel XXX campaign and the BBC’s Watchdog.

Unit’s co-founder and md David Peto sold his shareholding in the company in January, handing over the reigns to Adam Luckwell. Luckwell’s ambition over the coming year is to further bolster Unit’s editing and finishing facilities, with a possible expansion into an additional building.
