UKTV has commissioned Classic Car Hunters (w/t) for its factual channel Yesterday and UKTV Play.

The series, produced by Wiser Films, follows the work of mechanic Sheldon Nichols, supported by bodywork expert Peter Harriott as they work to a client’s brief and budget to find a suitable car and carry out any mechanical fixes required. The pair will add any desired modernisations and bring the bodywork up to scratch. They will then deliver the client their dream classic, and hopefully have enough budget left over to make a small profit on the job.

Classic Car Hunters (w/t) has been commissioned for UKTV by commissioning executive Emile Nawagamuwa with head of factual and factual entertainment Helen Nightingale, and ordered by Yesterday channel director, Gerald Casey and director of commissioning, Hilary Rosen. Produced by Wiser Films, the production company that makes The Car Years, executive producer is Tas Brooker, and the series producer is Richard Heeley.

UKTV’s Emile Nawagamuwa said, “I’m really pleased to be working with Wiser Films on Classic Car Hunters (w/t). This series will capture the skills and expertise of mechanics and lifelong friends Sheldon and Peter and demonstrate how they breathe new life into classic cars, delivering the car of their clients’ dreams. As always on Yesterday this is a series made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, and in Sheldon and Peter we have experts with decades of experience and skin in the game.”

Wiser Films’ Tas Brooker said, “Wiser Films prides itself on being a production company with diversity at its heart, and is extremely proud to be producing this car restoration show entirely fronted by black talent. Sheldon Nichols and Peter Harriott have years of experience in the automotive trade and we look forward to bringing their unique talents to the screen, supported by a hugely experienced team that includes veterans of Top Gear, Wheeler Dealers and The Car Years.”

Gerald Casey said, “I’m really pleased we can park another car show on the Yesterday driveway! Classic Car Hunters (w/t) promises to deliver a real mix of interesting cars, interesting projects and interesting people.”

Classic Car Hunters (w/t) will TX on Yesterday and UKTV Play in 2024 where it will feature alongside new series of fellow UKTV Originals, Bangers & Cash and Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics.
