STV Studios has appointed Sara Hamill as Director of Production across STV Studios Drama, Tod Productions and Two Cities Television.

Hamill will work across all three labels, which have been responsible for major dramas Criminal Record (Tod Productions/STV Studios for Apple TV+), Blue Lights (Two Cities Television for BBC One) and Screw (STV Studios Drama for Channel 4) over the past year. She’ll work alongside Sarah Brown (Creative Director of Drama at STV Studios), Elaine Collins (Managing Director of Tod Productions), and Two Cities’ Joint CEOs, Michael Jackson and Stephen Wright.

Since 2018, Hamill has served as Director of Production across the drama slate for both Tiger Aspect and its subsidiary, Fifty Fathoms. She has overseen a number of projects during her time there, including the fifth series of international hit Peaky Blinders (BBC/Netflix); the Sky Atlantic/MGM+ historical drama Domina; two series of ITV’s The Good Karma Hospital; The A Word (BBC); Adult Material (Channel 4); and last year’s Windrush-focused drama, Three Little Birds, for ITV.

Prior to that, Hamill was Head of Production at Urban Myth Films for four years, where she worked on Channel 4/Netflix co-pro Crazyhead and both series of BBC fantasy adventure Atlantis, which was the broadcaster’s biggest new Saturday night drama launch in seven years when it first aired in 2013.

During her freelance career, Hamill worked both in the UK and on international locations on a number of hit shows, including three series of Merlin (BBC), and Demons and City Lights for ITV.

Her initial projects at STV Studios will include the third series of Blue Lights, which was commissioned for a third and fourth series by the BBC earlier this year, as well as three-part Netflix series The Witness and Mozart biopic Amadeus for Sky, both of which go into production later this year.

David Mortimer, Managing Director of STV Studios, said: “Sara’s extensive list of credits speaks for itself. She’s led production on some of the biggest, most culturally relevant shows of recent years, and we’re thrilled that she’s bringing her vast experience and brilliant eye for detail to the STV Studios family.

“Sara joins at a hugely exciting time for the group, and with production imminent on Blue Lights 3, The Witness and Amadeus, we’ve an array of diverse drama projects for her to work on from day one.”

Sara Hamill said: “I am delighted to be joining STV Studios and looking forward to working with the teams at STV Studios Drama, Tod and Two Cities across a vibrant and eclectic slate.”
