A 150,000 fps ultra high-speed Olympus camera has been added to the rental fleet of Ashtead Technology for TV and film production use.

The Olympus i-Speed 3 camera records at speeds up to 150,000 frames per seconds and 10,000 frames per second at 1280x1024 resolution. It’s straightforward to operate and includes rechargeable batteries and a display unit so no mains power is required.

An earlier version of the camera, which was initially designed for industrial applications, was used on BBC series Life In the Undergrowth and, more recently, Sky TV’s Got To Dance.

Ashtead Technology hasn’t announced a hire cost for the camera but promises “even those with a small budget” will be able to afford the camera.
