UKTV has unveiled branding for its growing slate of commissioned programming, UKTV Originals.

The launch of the new branding follows increased investment in original shows by UKTV, such as John Bishop In Conversation With…, Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit and Dynamo: Magician Impossible. In 2016, it committed over £150m to new programming.

Designed by in-house agency, UKTV Creative, the branding visualises the multi-disciplined process that goes into producing TV shows and features a handcrafted logo drawn by hand lettering artist, Alison Carmichael.

It was briefed by CMO Zoë Clapp and will premiere on W, on Monday 4 September ahead of the first episode of brand-new Original series, The Davina Hour.

Peter Allinson, head of design at UKTV said: “Working with the hugely talented Alison Carmichael provided us with an additional opportunity, to create a beautiful and truly bespoke logo. The result is a confident wordmark that feels crafted and authentic, like a stamp of approval or a signature.”

Zoë Clapp, chief marketing and communications officer said: “Branding our content in this way will make it clear that UKTV Originals are made exclusively for our network. The new branding and sonic will open and close every UKTV Original show, helping to develop our reputation as a commissioner of popular and award-winning original content.”
