The Farm has promoted junior colourist Daniel Gill to a full fledged member of its grading team, joining the company's big name grading talent such as Aidan Farrell, Perry Gibbs, Sonny Sheridan and Colin Peters.

Gill's first big project is 12 x 60 min Sky Living reality series Desi Rascals, which tells the story of a modern, dynamic and aspirational group of British Asians across a range of ages.

The series from Buccaneer Media is being shot over six weeks on the Arri Amira by award-winning director Gurinder Chadha in the West London in suburbs of Southall, Harrow and Gerrards Cross.

The fast turnaround production has just three days to cut each 60 min episode with The Farm receiving more than 1,200 hours of footage.

Gill graded the show on Nucoda Film Master, onlined in Avid Symphony and mixed with Pro Tools 11.

The Farm’s craft team have used a range of techniques to give the show its unique look and sound.

Gill graded with complimentary colours in mind, some greens were replaced with orange and cyan before adding glow and saturation.

The sound team used a variety of plugins, including the latest Izotope RX4 Noise Reduction software.

Specifically, the Declicker, Spectral Repair and Dialogue Denoiser features were used to help the dialogue drive the show forward.

Tracklay, sound mixing, online and the grade were run concurrently enabling The Farm to keep up with the fast turnaround schedule.
