Thames hires Boomerang's Baldwin as development head

FremantleMedia UK indie Thames has hired Shona Baldwin as its new Director of Development.

She was appointed by Thames md Amelia Brown.

Baldwin will work closely with Brown and Creative Director Phil Harris developing new formats with "global reach."

Commenting on the appointment, Amelia Brown said: “This is a really exciting time for Thames, and we’re delighted that Shona is becoming part of our team. Shona has a brilliant track record in creating incredible formats and combined with passion for new programming, I know that she will bring a new and exciting energy to Thames.”

Shona Baldwin added: “When it comes to quality global formats, few labels come close to the reputation and success that Thames and FremantleMedia have achieved. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining such a talented team at a truly exciting time, and look forward to helping create their next generation of entertaining global hits.”

Bladwin joins from Twofour label Boomerang, where as Director of Development she has led its factual and entertainment teams since 2015, devising ITV’s forthcoming six-part, fact-ent studio format What Would Your Kid Do?. Prior to that, she was Head of Development at Outline Productions (Things We Can’t Say About Race That Are True) and Head of Format Development at Studio Lambert, creating and producing programming that included Gogglebox, The Great British Interior Design Challenge and Million Second Quiz for NBC. 

She began her career in production, working at ITV Studios for five years, producing and directing programmes including Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Come Dine With Me, Hell’s Kitchen and The Savoy.
