Talent Group plc is to delist from the London Stock Exchange and return to private ownership.

Talent Television, producer of shows such as Test the Nation (BBC ONE) and comedy My Phone Genie (ITV/CITV/ZDF), will continue to be chaired by Terry Bate and run by Tony Humphreys.

Factual division Talent TV South, run by Kate Beal and Matt Blyth, has been sold to DVD outfit Stitchcombe Productions, and is being relaunched as Woodcut Media.

Bate said: “Trading has proved difficult as a public company over the past couple of years so the time was right to offer the plc shareholders an opportunity for renewed value going forward and at the same time reduce the burden of additional costs on our production businesses."

Humphreys said: “The re-structure enables us to focus on what we do best; create, develop and produce formatted entertainment, factual entertainment and scripted comedy programmes for main stream television and more recently feature films for theatrical release. We have a healthy slate of projects at various stages of developments with broadcasters and international co-producers and look forward to moving into a new era with some of the new young talent we have discovered.’
He added “We would also like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes for the future to the new owners and team at Woodcut Media (formerly Talent TV South)."

Beal and Blyth intend to acquire a 20% stake from Stitchcombe in Woodcut Media.
“I’m very excited to be involved with the birth of Woodcut Media having worked with Kate and Matt for a number of years. I’m delighted to be a part of the next stage of growth, and by building on an established track record we’re enabling them to go from strength to strength,” commented Marianne Benton, Founder/Managing Director, Stitchcombe Productions.
