Studio Lambert has been commissioned to produce its first BBC One formatted factual series, Doctor in the House.

Doctor in the House (working title) will see a British family inviting a GP into their lives for a month. The family, with at least one member suffering an underlying or chronic health complaint, will be calling in the doctor to eat with them, sleep with them and be part of their daily lives witnessing their habits around the clock.

The GP will, investigate every aspect of the family’s health working with them to make changes to improve their health and wellbeing.
Tim Harcourt, Creative Director, Studio Lambert said: "Doctor in the House is a dramatic medical MOT for a family's health. On the one hand the concept nods to our nostalgia for a time when families had physicians who knew them well. However the programme also captures a more progressive trend in medicine: that there are a myriad of behavioural and environmental elements in our everyday lives that impact upon our health. It's the Doctor in the House's job to detect these and to help the audience to explore the wider causes of ill health."

Tom McDonald, BBC Head of Natural History and Specialist Factual Formats, added: "Doctor in the House is a really exciting new format which will show how really simple changes can have a huge impact on your health. Lots of us avoid going to see the GP - so I can't wait to see what happens when families all over the UK have a doctor in their own homes to guide them to better.”
Doctor in the House was commissioned by BBC One Controller, Charlotte Moore and
Head of Natural History and Specialist Factual Formats, Tom McDonald. The Commissioning Editor is Craig Hunter and it will be executive produced by Studio Lambert’s Tim Harcourt and Ros Ponder.

The 3 x 60-minute series will transmit on BBC One in 2015. The format will be distributed by All3Media International.
