Steve Milne, the chairman of post house Molinare, has now left the company to focus full time on his movie production company, British Film Company.

Milne was Molinare’s ceo between 2003 and 2010 before leaving to concentrate on executive producing movies but returned in 2012 after the company was placed in administration.

Milne helped rescue the company after leading a buy out of Molinare in 2012 and became chairman with former Rolls Royce global head of sales and operations, Julie Parmenter, taking over as md.

In his British Film Company role Milne has backed a number of British films and his exec producing credits include Journey’s End, Swallows and Amazons and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

Current projects including Amma Asante’s Where Hands Touch, a rites of passage story of a bi-racial teen struggling for survival in Nazi Germany as well as A Pair of Silver Wings, an adaptation of James Hollands’ novel about a teacher reflecting on his past as a fighter pilot.

Milne’s British Film Company is also behind the upcoming feature doc Spitfire, a history of the iconic aircraft featuring first hand accounts from original pilots and Trautmann, a biopic of the German goalkeeper Bert Trautmann, who helped win the FA Cup Final for Manchester City in 1956 by playing on with the game despite suffering a broken neck.

On leaving Molinare, Milne comments: “My Journey with Molinare has always been driven by the Storytelling. Rather than focus on the technical tool kit for me it was always about helping the Storytellers best tell their tales. I developed a deep love of Feature Documentary following my first visit to Sundance Film Festival in 2007 and set out to build a World Class team. I am delighted to be working with many of those creatives now on Spitfire- a deeply personal project for British Film Company which goes back to my RAF upbringing and learning to fly at the ripe age of 40.”

That experience changed me and proves it’s never too late to try something new and I now feel it is the right time to fully focus on producing and with ‘A Pair of Silver Wings’ and others i know i must fully focus to make those dreams a reality.”
