Steve Anderson is leaving Tinopolis, where he is editorial director, to launch an international division of NBC production company Peacock Productions, based in the UK.

Anderson, who will be managing director of Peacock, will oversee international TV production for NBC News' long-form production unit, known for its specials, documentaries and reality series. Its recent productions include a live special showing Nik Wallenda crossing the Little Colorado River Gorge for Discovery Channel.

Anderson is executive producer of Question Time for the BBC, which is produced by Tinopolis group company Mentorn Media. His recent documentary production credits include three films about Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius.

"Over the last couple of years I've made quite a lot of fast-turnaround productions such as those on Oscar Pistorius and Madeleine McCann that have got big ratings and sold internationally," said Anderson, noting that Peacock wants to make its presence felt in the UK market quickly. "Peacock Productions has a reputation for high-profile documentaries that capture the drama of the big events of the moment. Spearheading its global expansion and being able to call on the vast resources and talent of NBC News is a great opportunity."

Before joining Mentorn in 2004, he was controller of news, current affairs, arts and religion at ITV and oversaw ITV News coverage of 9/11 and the Gulf War. Prior to that he was a BBC News senior field producer, covering the conflicts in Iraq and Bosnia. His other documentary credits include The Cleveland Captives: What Really Happened and Michael Jackson's Final Days: What Really Happened.

“This is a great moment for Peacock Productions to build on our domestic success and make a significant move into the global marketplace,” said Sharon Scott, president and general manager of Peacock Productions,

Anderson will take up his new role in October.
