Silverglade Post Production, a major supplier to post services to ITV, has signed up content processing and digital media company Re:fine to handle its DPP QC process.

Re:fine will perform a full run time TX QC on all content before delivery to the broadcaster for SilverGlade.

Last month’s launch of the DPP standard marked the phasing out of the historical QC role of the broadcaster.

The DPP requires that all content is passed through two key QC processes: ‘automated QC’ (AQC) and then an ‘eyeball’ or manual QC.

The DPP file, AQC and a watched QC check is carried out as usual by Silverglade, with an additional manual check carried out by Re:fine prior to delivery.

Silverglade delivers hundreds of hours content throughout the year, to national and international broadcasters.

Shows on the slate for the new partnership include Piers Morgan Life Stories, Secrets from the Sky, Tricked and Freddy’s Sporting Dinners.

Silverglade MD Jason Tomkins, said: “our primary activity is to produce quality content, and when you’re immersed in that process it’s easy to miss mistakes that can have serious reputational impact.”

“It’s invaluable therefore to have the assurance and reassurance of a third party. In re:fine we have found a cost effective partnership with qualified people allowing us the security to know our productions are delivered to the very best of our capabilities.’

This deal is re:fine’s first partnership with a post-production house in the wake of the October launch of the AS-11 UK DPP standard. R

Re:fine head of QC Anna Connolly, added:  “Our experienced QC operators will bring independent 3rd party evaluation back into the process.

“Although editors, graders, sound mixers and producers might have watched the programme multiple times during post, you can’t beat the reassurance that the content has passed a 3rd party test before it goes to TX.’

Re:fine has recently been appointed preferred QC supplier status to ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

In a separate move, Deluxe has expanded its strategic relationship with ITV to encompass asset preparation for recently launched channels ITVEncore and ITVBe.

The strategic relationship was formed as part of ITV’s vision to modernise its content-delivery workflow, which included bringing video-on-demand fulfillment work in-house.

Deluxe, which offers asset-management solutions for media and entertainment, is responsible for pre-distribution preparation of all ITV assets for linear transmission and VOD platform delivery, across both acquired and commissioned content.
