Silver River has won its first commission for green fingers challenge format Grow Make Eat from BBC Two.

Allocated an outside space ready for planting, Grow Make Eat contestants grow their own produce across one season. At the end of the season they compete in a series of challenges designed to test their skills, from growing the perfect vegetable and flower arranging to creating unique larder items and dishes from the produce they’ve grown.

Emma Willis, commissioning executive documentaries, BBC said: “We’re really excited about this fantastic new series which will tap into the wave of public interest in growing your own and home crafts from chutney making to floral arrangements. With the cost of living continuing to rise, it’s the perfect time to make the most of our gardens and allotments and get growing with a purpose.”

Silver River parent company Sony Pictures Television is launching the Grow Make Eat format ahead of next month’s MIPCOM, together with barbecue format Grillmaster. Following a deal with Nice Entertainment, SPT has acquired the international format rights to Grillmaster, a new cooking challenge show  launched in Denmark (TV2) and Sweden (TV4) this summer.

Created by production company Titan, part of the Nice Entertainment Group, Grillmaster sees amateur chefs compete in a series of cooking challenges in front of a panel of judges to win the prize of a publishing deal and the title of Grillmaster of the Year.
