Channel 4 commissioning editor, specialist factual Tanya Shaw is to join the BBC’s factual features and formats commissioning team as a commissioning executive.
Shaw was one of a number of C4 commissioners who applied for the deputy head of factual post following the merger of the specialist factual and documentaries departments earlier this year. The deputy head of factual role was taken by Nick Mirsky.

Prior to joining C4, Shaw was a creative director at Silver River.

Shaw’s commissions at C4 have included The Food Hospital, Four Rooms, Tsunami: Caught on Camera, Alone In The Wild and Hippo: Nature’s Wild Feast.
She joins the BBC’s factual features and formats commissioning team, headed by commissioning editor Alison Kirkham, in October.
Kirkham said: “We are delighted to have someone of Tanya’s calibre join the team. She is a hugely experienced and well liked programme maker and commissioner. I am very much looking forward to working with her.”
Shaw added: “After four fantastic years at Channel 4, I’m thrilled to be joining Alison and her team.  Commissioning for BBC1 and BBC2 is a huge creative challenge and I can’t wait to get started.”
