Stockholm-based vfx house Goodbye Kansas Entertainment Group is to launch a new UK studio.

Goodbye Kansas UK will be based in London and will be led by executive producer James Prosser, formerly of MPC and ZOO and executive director Martin Hobbs ex of MPC and Prime Focus. Also joining the London team is vfx supervisors Matt Kasmir (Nvizible, Cinesite) and Jesper Kjölsrud (Imagine Engine, Double Negative) and art director Rafael Morant (Bluebolt).

The newly-formed team has been hired to work on the upcoming movie Suburbicon, directed by George Clooney and written by the Coen Brothers. The film is a black comedy set in the 1950s and set for release in 2017. 


The UK studio will have direct links to the Stockholm studio and utilise the company’s pipeline and infrastructure and creative talent.

James Prosser said: “We are incredibly excited to launch the UK studio to better serve our clients in the UK and beyond. Our depth of experience in VFX, full CG animation and motion capture, combined with our internal technological development allows us to meet the demands of the most complex projects across film, TV, advertising and games.”

The Goodbye Kansas Entertainment group is made up of Fido, Black Studios and Imagination Studios.

Fido provides a wide range of VFX and animation services, specialising in digital characters and photorealistic animals for film, TV and commercials. Recent work includes the TV series The Walking Dead.

Black Studios produces in game cinematics and trailers for game developers and publishers. Recent credits include work for Mass Effect: Andromeda, Conan and Unravel. Black Studios also produced the award-winning Nike “Your Year” campaign for AKQA.

Imagination Studios provides professional motion capture, 3D animation and pre visualisation.  The studio has contributed to many game titles including Battlefield, Dragon Age, God of War and the Hitman series.
