Comedy producer Roughcut TV is backing the launch of a new comedy indie, ‘Little a’, founded by People Just Do Nothing producer Jon Petrie.

‘Little a’ will specialise in the development and production of scripted comedy content, based on “original ideas and personal stories.” The company has already secured its first commission with Channel 4, a co-production with Roughcut TV, Stath Lets Flats.

Stath Lets Flats is a 6x30’ comedy series following Stath (Jamie Demetriou - Fleabag, Tracey Ullman’s Show, Gap Year), an incompetent lettings agent, on his day to day antics at a dodgy London lettings agency run by Stath's father.

Written by Jamie Demetriou and 'Friday Night Dinner' creator Robert Popper, the series will be executive produced by Jon Petrie. It is due to air in Summer 2018.

Other projects already in the pipeline include series in development with both BBC and Channel 4, as well as a pilot for BBC, shooting in August 2018.

Jon Petrie, Managing Director, ‘Little a’, says: “From 'People Just Do Nothing' to 'Stath Lets Flats', I've always got my kicks out of developing new talent into established comedy stars. 'Little a' gives me the perfect opportunity to help funny and exciting people to get their ideas made for TV and emerging, calling myself a 'managing director' finally makes my parents think I've managed to get a proper job.”
Ash Atalla, MD, Roughcut TV, adds “‘I’ve worked with Jon for the last 10 years and he’s one of the best creatives I know.  Like all marriages you have to keep things exciting in the bedroom, so hopefully our ‘Little a’ adventure will mean we get to ‘do it’ for years to come.”

Jon Petrie began his career in 2005, working as a runner on The IT Crowd, and produces the BAFTA winning BBC show People Just Do Nothing, after discovering the stars on YouTube.
