Rights.tv, which provides legal and business affairs services to producers, is opening a Welsh office in Cardiff and has appointed Sion Hughes as senior business affairs manager to head up the office.

“The production sector in Wales is the most creative it has ever been, with companies here and in the west of England becoming more and more successful in the UK and international markets," says Andrew Baker, managing director of Rights.tv.

Hughes joins Rights.tv from Welsh indie Wild Dream Films where he worked as a producer and head of business affairs and development. He has experience in negotiating deals with US broadcasters including Discovery Channel, History Channel and National Geographic. His recent production credits include producer on the US network series Big Tiny for Discovery Channel TLC and producer of Wyneb Glyndwr for S4C. Before joining Wild Dream Films, Sion worked in legal and business affairs roles at ITV Wales, S4C, Cyfle and Trade Association TAC.

Rights.tv currently advises The Weinstein Company, Red Arrow Media, Nutopia, Ten Alps and Darlow Smithson as well as talent agencies including Arlington Enterprises and Chambers Management.
