Filming has begun on location in Manchester for ITV's three-part thriller Prey from Red Productions.

Directed by Nick Murphy (The Awakening, Occupation, Blood) and written by television newcomer Chris Lunt, Prey will follow the story of a man on the run, desperate to clear his name for the sake of his family.

John Simm plays detective constable Marcus Farrow, a well-liked policeman, with a wife and two kids. When Farrow is found at the scene of a brutal crime, with all the evidence pointing towards him, his world collapses. But he gets the opportunity to escape and goes on the run in Manchester.

Detective sergeant Susan Reinhardt (Rosie Cavaliero) is tasked by acc Warner (Adrian Edmondson) with catching him. He turns to his best friend Sean Devlin (Craig Parkinson) and colleague Andrea Mackenzie (Anastasia Hille) for help.

The 3 x 60’ episodes will be produced by Tom Sherry (Scott & Bailey, New Tricks), with Red Production company founder Nicola Shindler (Unforgiven, Last Tango in Halifax) as executive producer.

Prey has been commissioned by ITV director of Drama, Steve November and will see John Simm’s debut as a lead actor on the channel in 2014.
